New lineup of online filmmaking workshops offered

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Light House Studio as a new lineup of online filmmaking workshops that are available to people of all ages.

According to a release, these include Masterclasses by industry professionals and a free-to-enter film challenge in which people can use any resources they have at home, such as shooting video on their phone and editing it in TikTok.

Something new this summer is the “pay what you can system” the nonprofit has put in place, which means the typical workshop value is listed but participants are encouraged to pay any portion of that tuition, whatever amount they can.

The online courses include film theory, screenwriting for adults, animation at home, filmmaking for YouTubers, creative editing, and more. More information on these is available here.

The Film Challenge is a bi-weekly challenge in which filmmakers can make a unique short film incorporating a given round’s prompt that can be made on or for any platform.

Filmmakers can also submit works from any genre to as many rounds as they want as long as their film adheres to Light House’s rules and the prompt’s guidelines.
