Make a PSA Short Film!
This is Light House Studio’s 12th year partnering with local nonprofits to create a Public Service Announcement (PSA). Students will read through applications and choose which nonprofit they want to feature before pitching and storyboarding their concepts.
Based on the project and concept, students will use different video techniques (e.g., animation, time-lapse, etc.) to grab the viewer's attention and engage them with the cause. Students will leave this project knowing how to “hook” viewers during a PSA.
This free workshop is a great way to learn new skills, build your portfolio, and earn community service credit.

This is Light House Studio’s 12th year partnering with a local nonprofit to create a PSA for our Commercial Production workshop. In 2025, students worked with the Albemarle Housing Improvement Program to create a PSA about the important work they do in our community. You can view the PSA the students made last year above.
