Light House Studio Summer COVID-19 Policies

Light House Studio continues to adhere to guidelines set by the Virginia Governor’s office and the CDC. Since November 2020, we have successfully taught several in-person workshops. We are using the guidelines from these recent workshops, along with input from our team and Board of Directors, to create these Light House Studio Summer Program COVID-19 policies. As always, our first priority is to take care of our students, Light House team and families. We will continue to modify these policies as updated health information is available from the government.

Mask Use

Masks will be worn at all times while students are on site at and during the time the student is attending Light House Studio summer camp. All masks and acceptable face coverings must cover the nose and mouth of the student and may not contain holes, valves, or mesh material. Bandanas, neck gaiters, scarves, and face shields without an underlying mask or acceptable face covering are not permitted. Light House will provide a mask or face covering to any student who does not have one. Please see the CDC guidelines here.

Masks can be removed outdoors, for specific activities such as acting in front of the camera, if and only if proper spacing of over six feet between persons is maintained.

Light House has two new studios and the theatre area at the Vinegar Hill Theatre location along with our existing classroom at our Water Street location that allow for 6’ distancing between students and the teaching artists.

All food and drinks are to be consumed only in designated areas. Light House students will eat outside except in times of inclement weather as determined by Light House staff. Middle School and High School students may take their lunch break outside at a Charlottesville Downtown restaurant with written parental/guardian permission. All are expected to follow CDC guidelines during camp hours while attending camp, even when off-site. Students will not share food and drinks.

Campers enrolled in our MovieMakers camps are required to bring their own lunches. Designated space along with a half hour supervised lunch will be provided every day.

Inclement weather, Vinegar Hill Theatre Studio camps: In the event that students cannot eat outside, students will eat in a designated area inside such as the Theatre. Assigned seats will be at least 6’ apart.

Hands should be washed often with soap and water or through the use of hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is located at the entrance to each studio (including the Water Street studio) and at the entrance to all rooms throughout the Vinegar Hill Theatre building.

Disinfection Protocols

Our facilities are sanitized regularly, with a focus on classrooms and shared spaces.  Highly touched surfaces will be disinfected after students leave for the day by the Light House team.

Shared equipment such as cameras or keyboards will be sanitized regularly by the students and the Light House team. Disinfectant wipes for cleaning equipment and highly touched surfaces will be provided by Light House.

Temperature Screening

The Light House team will provide daily morning temperature checks for Teaching Artists and arriving students.

COVID-19 symptoms may include: Fever and chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea. Unscheduled visits to Light House Studio are not permitted. Anyone, including parents/guardians, will need to make prior arrangements with the Light House Team to schedule a visit.
